BoxGeek Foam Corner with Corrugated Backing

Our client was shipping small pieces of furniture in its original box. The merchandise was being damaged after shipment to customers. Inspection of the returned items revealed that most of the damage was occurring at the corners of the original box, resulting in excessive damage to the wood edges of the furniture inside.

Our solution was to glue laminated foam to a corrugated backing. We chose a rigid foam that would provide the most support for the original box. The foam would protect against any drops during shipping. The double-wall corrugated backing would provide support against any heavy items being place on top of the box.

We placed one of these at each corner of the original box. The foam's laminated surface meant that it was less likely to break apart during abusive shipping, which was one of the problems with the packing of the original boxes. This method also cut down on labor and time costs since it took much less time to put the original box inside of a new box with corner protection, than taking the item out of the original box and re-packing it.

We then double-packed the original box inside of a custom-made BoxGeek box for a snug fit. This provided the original box with over 2 inches of protection from outer damage.
